There is an increase in the production of counterfeit goods and other labor complications that affect economies and exploit workers.
Another threat relates to piracy where fake products challenge the authenticity of original ones. In addition, these goods are often manufactured in countries that have low standards concerning working conditions, with low pay, overlapping schedules, and insecure working environments.
The production of counterfeit goods often involves child labor and forced labor, violating human rights and perpetuating cycles of poverty (International Labor Organization, 2019). Governments and organizations worldwide are working to combat these issues through stricter regulations, improved enforcement, and raising consumer awareness (OECD, 2016).
Addressing these challenges requires coordinated efforts to ensure ethical production practices and safeguard workers' rights (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, 2020).

The challenges on data protection
and sustainability are pretty huge in the case of Amazon. Transportation turns
out to be one of the major contributors of carbon emission, from the huge
logistical network to the huge number of activities to the unnecessary amount
of packaging wastes, while data centers use up much energy. In light of brand
image maintenance and legal compliances, these concerns pertaining to
sustainability have to be taken care of by Amazon in times when customer and
government pressure for 'greenness' increases. With programs such as the
Climate Pledge to reach net-zero emissions by 2040, and through investments in
renewable energy and electric delivery vehicles, the company has committed
itself to some quite ambitious targets. The attainment of these goals will,
however, take serious investment and innovation on a continuous basis (Home - Amazon Sustainability,
2022)
Another significant challenge
lies within the area of data privacy. Amazon collects huge amounts of personal
data in order to make user experiences better and to make advertising more
efficient. These practices are breaching the boundary of privacy to quite an
extent. Isolation and manipulation of the same data could expose severe
reputational damage and legal implications. Navigating complex global privacy
regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe
and the California Consumer Protection Act in the United States, further
complicates this challenge. In this respect, it is necessary for Amazon to
establish a robust security system that protects the safety of customers based
on trust and transparency in privacy policies and regulatory compliance. (Staff, 2018)

The strategy of Amazon original internationalization is based on factors like the relative growth of Internet usage and a gradually growing middle-income population in emerging countries. Such factors give a great shot at Amazon to expand to new markets thus, selling different types of product aspects that can help enhance the lives of customers. Adding that groceries through Amazon Fresh, apparels and prescription drugs are important items which can be purchased through the company. Through venturing into these markets, Amazon will be able to penetrate the expanding market in the sale of face convenient and reliable e-commerce market more so in areas that are not developed enough in e-commerce.
The last area of competitive advantage that forms the key on eBay is the technology because it helps Amazon to sustain and develop its positions. AI and ML are adopted by the company to improve the personal buying experiences, supply chain and even perfect the pricing of products. These technologies enable Amazon to provide highly customized recommendations based on customer data, increasing delivery effectiveness, as well as the firm’s ability to hold its own on the pricing front, all of which help it cultivate customers worldwide.
AWS or the firm’s cloud services division is another more promising market for Amazon globally. AWS stays dominant in the cloud computing where it cater to almost all services ranging from serverless computing, AI/ML and IoT and the likes. These services are very much demand by all the companies ranging from small to large making AWS to be the key growth for amazon. I have hinted to this before, AWS is continually working on product development within the AWS organisation, and through collaboration with technology companies, local governments, and academic institutions, AWS remains cutting-edge in cloud computing. Through the correct investment in the infrastructure and global coverage, AWS has been able to deliver high service availability and low latency and therefore cover multinational corporations.
Another component of Amazon’s internationalisation drive is the increase in services offered through its Amazon Prime subscription. Prime, with such advantages as fast delivery, discounts for members, and the ability to watch streaming content, helps to maintain customer loyalty and raise the average cheque. With Amazon’s consistent addition for new services under Prime and the growth of Prime’s presence cross-sectionally, Amazon is widening its stranglehold on the e-commerce space.
In conclusion, the external environment that is characterized by the global expansion and technological advancement can be observed as the major opportunities for the Amazon company to expand its market share as a basis for its leadership in the electronic commerce and technological clouds. Hence, Amazon is set to look for the opportunities such as rise in internet usage, the growing demands of the middle and above class population, and the continuous innovation through the integration of AI, ML and cloud services, and so on to continue its journey of dominance in the worldwide market.
