Lack of Access to fresh, healthy, and affordable Food (Food Desert)

Food Desert (Gettysburg, 2014) Ibrahim Saeed Mohammed Saif (TP076440) Farming food locally is therefore a viable and efficient way of feeding people around the globe especially in food desert areas. It empowers the people to engage in farming by developing and supporting concept of community gardening and urban gardening (Kaiser 2011). This not only helps to ensure that the community has access to the essential nutrients in the food which is very important but also ensures that the community has ownership and thus whenever they get involved in the production of food they do so willingly and not out of force.   Also, supporting farmers and local food by buying’s including farmers markets and direct to consumer programs helps residents access fr...

Amazon Challenges and Opportunities

Amazon (TFE.Agency)

Hence, Amazon has not been without its fair share of problems due to it being a market leader in the e-commerce and technology industries. Competition from traditional brick-and-mortar stores such as Walmart and Target, and from modern online players who are capable to quickly respond to customers’ needs, remains a significant factor as to why Amazon’s market share is in constant danger (McLaren , 2024). This means for example, that there is the need for constant product and service development, which entails massive expenditure on new products, services, and technologies.

In addition, having such a large scale and such a major impact on the market as Amazon has become with so many sellers relying on Amazon as a market place, Amazon has attracted the attention of regulators. Disputes regarding market dominance and alleged anti-competitive activities have seen it face probes and legal cases in different regions (McCabe, 2023). Also, the labor relations to its numerous units of the warehouses and fulfillment centers have become the subject of controversy in recent years, hence more scrutiny and possible legal issues (O’Donovan, 2023). Adherence to new requirements of various laws and protection against legal claims present significant obstacles for Amazon to solve since they can both affect its image and profitability on the long run.

There is an increase in the production of counterfeit goods and other labor complications that affect economies and exploit workers.

Another threat relates to piracy where fake products challenge the authenticity of original ones. In addition, these goods are often manufactured in countries that have low standards concerning working conditions, with low pay, overlapping schedules, and insecure working environments.

The production of counterfeit goods often involves child labor and forced labor, violating human rights and perpetuating cycles of poverty (International Labor Organization, 2019). Governments and organizations worldwide are working to combat these issues through stricter regulations, improved enforcement, and raising consumer awareness (OECD, 2016).

Addressing these challenges requires coordinated efforts to ensure ethical production practices and safeguard workers' rights (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, 2020).

The challenges on data protection and sustainability are pretty huge in the case of Amazon. Transportation turns out to be one of the major contributors of carbon emission, from the huge logistical network to the huge number of activities to the unnecessary amount of packaging wastes, while data centers use up much energy. In light of brand image maintenance and legal compliances, these concerns pertaining to sustainability have to be taken care of by Amazon in times when customer and government pressure for 'greenness' increases. With programs such as the Climate Pledge to reach net-zero emissions by 2040, and through investments in renewable energy and electric delivery vehicles, the company has committed itself to some quite ambitious targets. The attainment of these goals will, however, take serious investment and innovation on a continuous basis (Home - Amazon Sustainability, 2022)

Another significant challenge lies within the area of data privacy. Amazon collects huge amounts of personal data in order to make user experiences better and to make advertising more efficient. These practices are breaching the boundary of privacy to quite an extent. Isolation and manipulation of the same data could expose severe reputational damage and legal implications. Navigating complex global privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and the California Consumer Protection Act in the United States, further complicates this challenge. In this respect, it is necessary for Amazon to establish a robust security system that protects the safety of customers based on trust and transparency in privacy policies and regulatory compliance. To elaborate, in the global expansion strategy of Amazon, the increase of internet use and the existence of a growing middle-income population are the major factors in emerging markets (Amazon.com, Inc., 2023). The center’s products include groceries through Amazon Fresh, apparel, and prescription drugs which pose multiple needs in customers’ lives (Amazon. com, Inc., 2023). These developments in the technological front in AI and machine learning advance personal buying experiences, logistics, and pricing strategies (Amazon.com, Inc., 2023). The expansion of the Prime services of Amazon ensures customer retention and higher consumer spending per head (Statista, 2023).

AWS takes the market share by leading the cloud computing space, offering a major line of business with lucrative margins (Gartner, Inc., 2023). Continuous product development in AWS regarding services such as serverless computing, AI/ML, and IoT continues to pose interest from a wide clientele base (Gartner, Inc. , 2023). Affiliations with technology firms, local authorities, and learning entities expand AWS’s coverage and potential uses (Amazon.com, Inc., 2023). Fuelled by business operations across the globe, correct infrastructure investments guarantee high service availability and low latency, hence AWS’s popularity among multinational organizations (Gartner, Inc., 2023). These opportunities enable Amazon to prolong as well as advance its prominence in e-commerce and cloud services (Amazon.com, Inc., 2023).

    Effectuation

OSAMAH AHMED AL-NAGGAR(TP078781) (University of Virginia, 2019) Effectuation is considered a framework of entrepreneurship designed for decision-making that focuses on taking advantage of accessible resources and adaptation to changing circumstances. It was developed by Saras Sarasvathy in a way that focuses on setting specific goals and systematically planning to achieve them, which is contrasted with the traditional causation approaches. Instead, effectuation starts with the available tools, letting objectives develop naturally through recurrent processes of engagement with stakeholders and the environment. (What Is Effectuation? Effectuation 101, n.d.) Central to effectuation is the "Bird-in-Hand Principle," which encourages entrepreneurs to begin with what they know, who they are, and whom they know. This principle highlights the importance of using existing resources and capabilities to take initial steps and shows how crucial it is. The "Affordable Loss Principle...

    Generating Good Ideas

OSAMAH AHMED AL-NAGGAR(TP078781) Good Ideas (Petch, 2016) A good idea results from three factors: innovation, practicality, and market demand. At its core, a good idea fulfills a need or solves a specific problem. Inventing new technologies or things is not the determinant of how good an idea is; rather, creating things that add value to people's lives or improve existing innovations does (SmartStorming, n.d.). A good idea is also a feasible idea. It means it should be implementable with resources and technology that are available, ensuring it's not just a theoretical concept but can become a viable product or service for customers (Forbes Business Council, 2023). Marketing is also crucial. Even the smartest, most realistic idea will struggle or even fail to gain traction if it has poor marketing. Understanding the target audience helps in grasping the needs and desires of potential customers (Emeritus, n.d.). Another distinguishing factor of a good idea is scalability. An idea...
